With the Charlotte metro area (includes our communities) being one of the largest major metropolitan areas in North Carolina, it offers a wide variety of work and professional opportunities for our area. With the second largest banking center in the United States as well as major transportation and manufacturing centers, the Charlotte metro area offer a rich diversity of work and professional options. With Charlotte Douglas International Airport only 35 minutes away, travel is easily obtained nationally and internationally. For entertainment our area offers options that includes collegiate and professional sports as well as art and cultural attractions. Professional sports include NFL football with the Carolina Panthers; NBA basketball with the Charlotte Hornets and Minor League baseball with the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox). Universities such as UNC Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University, Gardner Webb University, Winthrop University, Queens College and others offer superb educational programs and competitive and entertaining sports programs. Another unique facility in our area is The U.S. National Whitewater Center. The U.S. National Whitewater center is a world-class recreation and training facility that will play host to Olympic-caliber athletes and weekend athletes alike. Set among 300 wooded acres along the scenic Catawba River, the multiuse facility has a climbing center, mountain-biking trails and running trails, all within a thirty-five minute drive from the Woodbridge communities. To round out our diverse entertainment options, art and cultural opportunities abound in our area. Some of the local attractions include the Schiele Museum of Natural History, the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, Discovery Place, The Mint Museum, Moss Lake Area, Kings Mountain National Military Park, Kings Mountain State Park, Crowder Mountain State Park, and many others.
